READY?
LET'S TAKE FLIGHT
Hurrah! I'm in! But what does that mean?
It means you're ready to start working towards embodying your story. From what we wear when we're alone, to how we dress when we leave our homes to face the world; from the colour we paint the walls of our houses, to the flowers we place in the foyer (and which vase we choose) we are telling stories. Stories of a moment, a minute, a morning, a month, a milestone, a memory, or a state of mind. Opportunities are everywhere. Why not seize them?
Uh - because its flippin' scary! I don't know where to begin, and what will people say?!
I hear you. So we take it slow... The worst thing you can do is jump in the car right now and head to the mall brandishing your credit card without a plan (or a budget)! Rome wasn't built in a day. An elephant can't be eaten in one piece. Insert all the clever sayings here.
We need to figure out a couple of things:
1. What's the story you want to tell right now? Realistically we all have many stories to tell at any given moment, so we start by uncovering the one story that feels like it wants to emerge at this moment of your tale; a story that you can live into for a while. So not a short-story or a novella - a good multi-chapter book is what we're after!
2. What are your boundaries? The thing with uniqueness is that there's no play-book - every person has their likes and dislikes, preferences, boundaries, edges and delights. There's no point is visualising 8-inch stilettos and yellow fishnet stockings if you actually love Docs and oversize pastel dresses. Pushing boundaries is fine, but you need to know what those boundaries are first, and whether there's even a need to push outside of them. Most stories don't need fishnets to pack a punch - they just need to be thoughtfully assembled.
