"The more our world functions like the natural world, the more likely we are to endure on this home that is ours, but not ours alone."

NATURE
CONNECTION

for teams

Something interesting happens when we spend time in Nature - we start to experience things differently. Perhaps it's because we lean into our senses beyond only vision; maybe it's because Nature often asks us to struggle just a little. Perhaps it's because we relax as we breathe clean, fresh air, or pay more attention because we're outside of our comfort zone. Whatever the reason - be it emotive or scientific - shift happens. On a personal level, this shift can open a variety of doors for us. When we enter this space as a team facing a change or a challenge, it tends to reveal solutions we may not otherwise consider.

In collaboration with JACK FROST's Paul Steenkamp and other experienced Design Sprint Facilitators and Innovation and Strategy Specialists , EARTHMARK invites you and your team to unearth solutions in and in collaboration with Nature.

WHAT
WE
OFFER

Our services range from a morning team build to a full 4-day offsite immersion. Each can be tailored to suit your requirements and diary.

We would love to help you find the right fit for your team and the change/challenges you are facing together. To get started please complete the nifty little form we've set up - it'll give us an overview of what you're after. It's going to take you between 5 and 10 minutes, depending on how detailed your responses are.

Once received, read and considered we will connect with you to suggest the best way forward for you and your team.

01

3-hour Nature-Connection Walks

As your team moves through Nature together you focus on getting to know each other as a team.

02

6-hour Nature-Connection Walks

These walks are centred around a specific change/challenge faced by your team/department/organisation. Before the walk time is given to understanding the change/challenge. After the walk, reflections are captured as a departure point for further strategising.

03

2-day Nature-Based Design Sprint.

Bringing together Nature-Connection and tried and tested human-centred design processes, we guide you from falling in love with the problem to prototyping.

In Nature, and in collaboration with Nature.

04

4-day Nature-Based Immersion.

This remote immersion takes place over four consecutive days (three nights) and requires your entire team to be off-site and hands-on. The journey from change/challenge to solution runs parallel to building team cohesion amidst a challenging physical journey through the natural environment.

My name is Janéne Steenkamp. I live in Hout Bay with my husband Paul, our daughter, and our houndS of love - Starbucks and Luna.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought me gifts of recalibrating, reframing, reinventing and relocating. It has also highlighted the deep need for us all to engage in personal rewilding, and how supporting this journey is what my work in the world is becoming.

In 2023 I launched my reimagined Earthmark venture - bringing my focus to reconnecting humans and nature, and from there holding space for fostering joy, creativity, relationship and healing.

January 2022 marked my certification as a Forest Therapy Guide with the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy.

I am an artist, and trained at the Johannesburg Art Foundation in the late 1990s, and also completed my art-teaching qualification through UJ/CDP partnership. I taught at St Stithians Boys’ College in Gauteng before turning my attention to creative corporate facilitation, cartooning, photography and design.

Recently I've enjoyed connecting people in the corporate realm with their natural capacity for creativity and innovation by partnering with my husband Paul at Jack Frost - his problem-solving consultancy.
