CYANOTYPES

December 21st is the Summer Solstice in South Africa, and is also my birthday. I always watch the Sun rise and set, and incorporate ancient Litha traditions into the day’s celebrations. In 2021 I spent the day at the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and made cyanotype prints with my friends and family.

This delightful celebration of the more than human world inspired me to subsequently create a series of cyanotypes of 20 of the trees I want to work with in a multi-media series commencing in January 2024. I started with 20 indigenous trees that are accessible to me so that I might practice deep connection with each.

If you are interested in building your relationship with these trees and would benefit from having a workbook with some basic prompts I invite you to download the basic printable resource I created using the cyanotype prints.
